As the Year of the Ox approaches, our students were eager to start the celebrations early. No matter what is going on elsewhere in the world, our focus was on providing a memorable day of celebration to honor the Spring Festival and welcome in the New Year.
In Primary, the celebrations ‘kicked off’ with a Kung Fu show. Our students then had the opportunity to work on their skills, before the four houses ‘battled’ it out to become the ‘House’ with the most Kung Fu masters!
Motivated by the spirit of the Ox, the students took part in a ‘tug of war’. It came down to which group could demonstrate the strength and diligence to succeed. After all of that physical activity, the children then had the opportunity to create their own New Year drawings, sharing their wishes for the year ahead… what great fun!
In the afternoon, the students were back in their Learning Communities completing an array of fun activities, all while experiencing the joy of a traditional Chinese Festival.
Our secondary students had a Kung Fu experience of their own, but it was through some classic Kung Fu movies. Moves from the movies were on display as ‘battle commenced’ who could show the heart of a warrior and become the ‘House Kung Fu master’ What an unique and engaging activity, watch out Jackie Chan, YCIS Chongqing are taking the movies by storm.
Next it was time for some KTV! These special performances captured the crowd’s attentions, singing and dancing along to the wonderful performances. Their voices truly brightened the whole YCIS campus with joyful festive excitement!
YCIS Chongqing wishes everyone a happy and prosperous Chinese New Year!
