There is no doubt that a strong relationship between the school and home enhances the learning for our students. At YCIS Chongqing, we encourage parents to be involved in their children’s learning in many ways and provide various of opportunities to create close communications between home and school.
On Wednesday 27th April we ran a training session for a selection of parents who volunteered to be a part of our Reading Aloud Programme. The training consisted of Child Protection and Safeguarding training led by Ms. May Ren as well as Reading training led by Ms. Claire Hammond.
At YCIS Chongqing, we believe that reading aloud teaches children how to use language in order to make sense of the world. It helps them to make connections with their lives and informs their view of themselves and others.
The parent volunteers started the programme on Tuesday 3rd May. In the coming weeks, we'll be seeing more parent volunteers on campus to engage in some interactive learning with our students. We are looking forward to providing the children with more opportunities to read aloud.
We want to say thank you to all the parents that have volunteered, for their time and support with this programme. If you are interested in joining this programme, please contact Ms. Claire Hammond via email claire.hammond@cq.ycef.com.
