A key part of the YCIS school motto is that YCIS will align with Love and Charity. Our school and its community take this concept to heart. For the last 6 years, we’ve remained committed to the annual Shoebox Drive which provides stationary, toys, and clothing to students in need in surrounding rural schools .

On January 19, after packing over 215 holiday gift boxes and more than 300 candy bags together with over 32 sets of winter clothes into our school bus, our student and parent representatives were ready for a day on the road! Thus began our outing to visit Baojia School in Bishan District as part of our YCIS Chongqing Seeds of Hope community project.

Upon arrival, we immediately felt the joy and anticipation lingering in the air! Warm greetings were provided by the staff and students who were very happy to see us and proudly guided us for a tour of their school. We then got into the activities and games planned by our YCIS students, which took place inside of the classrooms. Afterwards, the gift boxes were shared with students who couldn’t help but to display their happiness and gratefulness. Finally, we went outside to join a morning assembly where the school principal delivered a warm welcoming speech.

After a few warm-up activities, our YCIS students had prepared a show of their own as a way of introducing themselves to the local students. The excitement remained high as all students took part in activities and games together! This was very special experiences for our YCIS students who felt the importance of helping others first hand. We wrapped up the trip with a group photo to record the sweet memory!

We thank our YCIS community for their commitment and time in delivering love and hope to local children in need!

These acts of kindness and charity are something we are extremely proud of and will continue to do in the future, as kindness, compassion, and generosity are some of the most valuable characteristics an individual can possess!
