Over April 20 to 23, YCIS Chongqing attended the 2017 ACAMIS Silver Division Soccer tournament, hosted by Yew Chung International School of Shanghai Pudong. The tournament comprised of four other international schools from around China with players from all over the world.

The Tournament proved to be one of the best events for a YCIS High School Boys' Soccer team. Our boys were possibly the youngest team overall at the tournament, but at no stage was this apparent. From the start, the boys played with commitment and a never-say-die attitude. Many teams had asked how long our boys had been playing together, as the team cohesion was visible for the spectators watching. It's hard to believe that they had only a few months of training together.

The YCIS Girls' team entered the tournament as defending champions and also tournament favourites. This kind of pressure and expectation can often be detrimental for a team, but the YCIS girls used this as their motivation and didn't allow overconfidence to cloud their final goal. With injuries to key players meaning we only had one substitute the final games would definitely be tough. Finally, the deadlock was broken and YCIS still managed to come out victorious 2-0. This win put them in the final would see them face AIAN in the championship game. It was a nail-biting and a 1-1 full time score would see the match go to extra time. The girls had to dig deep and executed and finished free kick saw the girls crowned our third championship in a row!

It was a massive achievement for our players and a statement to the other schools that YCIS is a school to be reckoned with on the sports field. This brings an end to a fantastic year of ACAMIS sports tournaments and we look forward to see what 2017/2018 has in store for our teams.
