Are you interested in travelling to world renowned cities such as Los Angeles or London, perhaps you prefer travelling to destinations a little closer to Chongqing, such as Busan, Kunsan, Ulsan or Chungju, if you do, then we highly recommend you take a look at the wonderful projects from our Year 5 & 6 Chinese as an Additional Language students (CAL-Sky).
Since the end of November, these students began the new and exciting topic of ‘My Hometown’. The topic began with the students discussing how to introduce a city, they started by exploring the Chinese learning content of Hongkong and Chongqing. After they gained the necessary understanding of introduction a city, the students explored how to develop a detailed travel plan for prospective tourists to their hometowns, including travel routes, exciting activities to enjoy, local food and other useful tourist information.
Some students went even further and designed mini-Chinese brochures and e-brochures for their hometown, what great creativity and innovation from Year 5/6 CAL-Sky.
The CAL programme at YCIS Chongqing, is tailored for Chinese non-native speakers, helping the students learn to listen, read, speak and write Chinese fluently. We use real-life project-based experiences that immerse the students in the language, providing a purpose to the learning, which strengthens understanding while also developing 21st century learning skills.
