As part of the CAS experiences offered at the school, students from YCIS Chongqing recently took the initial plunge into the world of service learning.
Our students cleaned the beloved rivers of Chongqing by removing refuse to safeguard the region's natural elements.
The students identified and catalogued species of invasive plants, and their impact on the environment, using their academic expertise and passion. Students went beyond their classroom walls to actively change the world around them in some small way.
What exactly is CAS?
Creativity, Activity, and Service are collectively referred to as CAS. It is a requirement of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma program that students take part in a range of extracurricular pursuits outside of the school setting. This develops students' interpersonal skills, along with deepening their awareness of social issues and their own responsibilities for these - these are the goals of CAS.
Throughout the course of study, learners are required to participate in artistic endeavors, physical activity, and charitable initiatives. CAS inspires students to grow into engaged, caring, lifelong learners who enhance their communities.
We anticipate that our CAS students will continue to be more actively involved in the community in the coming years. Be sure to get in touch with us if you'd like to get involved in our fantastic projects.
