Yew Chung International School of Chongqing opened its First Annual Art Exhibition on Monday, May 15, 2017, at the YCIS Chongqing Gym.
We had the pleasure to offer the opportunity to experience a range of artistic work produced by YCIS Chongqing students, teachers, and adults from our local communities, and everyone at the scene enjoyed the ambient atmosphere of the exhibition. Students had been sharing their views of different artworks with their peers, as well as proudly showing to their parents. At the same time, our invited artists spent time with students to explore different techniques in painting. It is great to see everyone involved celebrated art!
The exhibition consisted of a wide range of work and activities across all media taught in Art classes including sketching, painting, drawing, paper crafts, and sculpture.
The exhibition contained works from every student and reflected the many influences that YCIS Chongqing students have been exposed to throughout the year. With the ability to portray a wide range of subject matter, from graphite portraits to Zentangles, optical illusion art, water colour works, mixed media pieces in style of Vincent Van Gogh, cubist works inspired by Pablo Picasso, decorative symbolic art pieces inspired by Gustav Klimt, and more. Diverse themes, vibrant colours, and simple, yet calculated compositions defined our students as enthusiastic learners. Their works this year reflected their creative thinking processes.
What made their artworks unique was the students’ confidence in their individual expression. The main objective of this exhibition was to showcase each student’s expression of his or her creativity, and we think we have achieved the goal!
