As we all know, most of the world is still feeling the effects of COVID-19. But for the most part, Chongqing has been blessed with a lengthy period of relative normalcy. Because of this bubble of safety, the YCIS Chongqing Community Choir was able to have another successful and busy holiday season, performing at many wonderful venues across the city.
To start off, our singers performed at the Westin Hotel’s Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on November 26th. There were tasty appetizers, Santa Claus with his helpers, and more than 200 people enjoying our talented singers! On December 4th, we also had a lovely performance at the Hyatt Regency in Guanyinqiao in front of a giant Christmas tree.
There was also a smaller group of singers putting their time in to help with charity, by singing at the IWG Ball on December 12th. Although it was a smaller group of singers, they were still able to hold their individual musical parts, and added to the festive atmosphere.
The choir will also be making an appearance at our YCIS annual concert, and even taking time during the winter break to sing at an event at the Crown Plaza in Jiefangbei.
The YCIS Chongqing Community Choir consists of parents, staff, and students. It really has been wonderful working with such a dedicated and talented group of singers. We can only hope that COVID-19 makes a permanent exit, so that everyone can continue to take part in the joys of community, music, and laughter.
