A huge congratulations to the Class of 2020 students on their fantastic International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme results! Our students averaged 33 points out of 45, which is well above the global average of 29.9. This is the second year that YCIS Chongqing students have surpassed the global average. The mean grade achieved by our students was 5.27 points out of 7, again this was above the global average of 4.80. Along with their academic success, the students have also grown in the characteristics of empathy, critical thinking, creativity, risk-taking and global citizenship, becoming well rounded lifelong learners.
These results are a testament of our students’ hard work, maturity as independent learners, impressive resilience and a strength of will to succeed. The quality of these results are especially significant given the unique circumstances our students faced this year due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Amidst the challenge of COVID-19 and remote learning, these students completed their Internal Assessment and coursework for submission to the International Baccalaureate Organization for the May 2020 session. The award of marks in July 2020 recognizes their work, and these marks will allow our students to continue their education.
Students have received offers at the University of Hong Kong and Xi’an Jiaotong Liverpool University while others are busily preparing their applications for various universities in Korea. We look forward to hearing about their successful applications in the coming months.
As a school, we would like to thank their teachers, form tutors, parents and all those who have supported them on their journey. This year has been an exceptionally trying experience, especially for exam grade students, and we admire the way these young people have handled themselves. We wish them all the very best for their next exciting ventures.
