    • In April 2017 YCIS Chongqing gained authorization to deliver the internationally renowned, International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP). This rigorous and challenging program “aims to develop students who have excellent breadth and depth of knowledge – students who flourish physically, intellectually, emotionally and ethically” (IBO,2019).

Authorization began our journey of working with our students to develop a program that, while being high challenge, is also caring and complemented with high support. I am in constant admiration of our students, many of whom are studying challenging academic courses in a second language. I am also in admiration of our teachers who constantly go out of their way to create opportunities to support their students and help them succeed. The parents too, a vital part of our program, want to engage, learn and support our students.

To deliver the IBDP successfully requires team work. Team work between students, teachers, and parents. Importantly, our teachers work together to build a curriculum that is linked up and coherent and to discuss strategies that will best enable student success. We run a dedicated forum for parents to engage directly with the program.

In July 2019, the first two years of hard work by our community was paid off with stellar IBDP results that all students, parents and teachers can be proud of. We gained an average point score of 37.3 (the global average is 29) with over half of our IBDP students gaining 40+ points. These excellent performances have led to students being admitted and gaining scholarships to top university around the world, including:

      McGill University, Canada

      Ohio State University, USA

      New York University Shanghai, China

      Korea University, South Korea

Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong SAR
