    • Mr. Ian Ward is from the UK with over 20 years’ experience in a variety of educational roles and responsibilities. He supported a number of schools to raise standards in teaching and learning, as well as inspecting schools, examining the quality of their education. Mr. Ward believes that the children should be at the heart of everything a school should do in order to provide every opportunity for them to be successful in as many ways as possible, not just academically, but to also make them great people and lifelong learners.

Having gained his bachelor’s degree in Science along with his Qualified Teacher Status in 1997, Mr. Ward obtained his master’s degree in educational leadership in 2012. He has worked in international education for 9 years as both a Deputy Principal and Principal at a large school in Dubai with over 900 students in the Primary section.

Mr. Ward ensured a number of key improvements were made within the school in the areas of curriculum, assessment and performance management, these successes were commended by CIS during their previous inspections. He and his team were fortunate enough to win the British International Schools award for pastoral care in 2017.

Arriving Chongqing in August 2019, Mr. Ward was welcomed by the fantastic YCIS Chongqing staff and he was very excited to take on the challenge of being in a new country and learning a new language. Mr. Ward said: ‘I have been fortunate enough to always have a positive impact in the schools that I have worked at and led, my goal is to be just as successful here at YCIS Chongqing and make a real difference to the quality of learning so that the school can achieve even greater things’.

In his spare time, Mr. Ward enjoys going to the gym and playing golf, he is also an avid support of Liverpool FC and Wigan Warriors (his hometown rugby team). He is looking forward to exploring China and finding out more about the culture and traditions, as well as seeing other countries within Asia. We wish him good luck in his adventure and hope he has fun!
