This year students from Years 7 and 8 have been enjoying developing their programming skills. Their analytical, algorithmic and logical skills are being challenged and learning in these areas supports students’ understanding of core subjects such as mathematics.
Year 7s have furthered their understanding of programming through Small Basic. They have started studying how to use Microsoft Windows and are well on their way towards understanding and using alternative platforms and programming environments.
In Year 8, the students are keenly studying physical programming using BBC micro-bits. These are circuit boards with LED lights and are used in schools throughout the UK to develop understanding of programming by creating code to play games such as rock, paper, scissors. The students have fun learning and absorb knowledge while gaining experience without even realising.
It is important to make lessons enjoyable for all students without taking away the importance of learning and development of skills. The students are passionate about Computing, making it a fulfilling and dynamic subject for all.
We look forward to the students’ further progress in the rest of the school year!
