On Friday, September 7 2018, a group of YCIS Primary and Secondary students, together with some of our supporting parents, participated the Second Oriental Cup Chinese Calligraphy Contest for the International Community.

The first Oriental Cup was hosted last year in Shenzhen at the city’s Oriental Art Gallery and welcomed more than 170 contestants from 23 countries. This year, with the great support from Chongqing Expat Club, Chinese Contemporary Art Museum and other organizations, the event was a great success! Parties from YCIS and Chongqing University, as well as others with strong enthusiasm and love for Chinese culture and Chinese calligraphy were eager to attend the event. Our students were well-prepared to compete with artwork completed in Chinese classes.

During the event, students had a chance to listen speeches about the development of Chinese Calligraphy and the relationship between “style” writing and our daily life. YCIS participants were also given time to practice their calligraphy under the guidance of the professional calligraphers.

The event ended with group photos and it was truly an unforgettable experience for all who participated. We look forward to seeing the results of the competition in the near future and wish everyone good luck!
