YCIS Shanghai alumna Carmen’s interest in sustainability was sparked after watching a documentary on the environment at Upper Secondary.  With the help and guidance of a CUGO counsellor, she chose to study Environmental Management at the University of Toronto, which was a niche programme back then.  Carmen is now low-carbon entrepreneur who runs two communities, 100% Human and Pet Universe.  She sees the limitations in traditional environmental approaches while bringing like-minded people together in a form of a community can help them learn and practice a sustainable lifestyle through in person communications and hands-on activities. It is also a path that is easier to stick to.
