Ms Aylee Xiang
ECE Team Leader/ECE K3 Co-Teacher
Ms Aylee Xiang graduated with an Bachelor of Preschool Education from Chongqing normal University in 2015. She begun her teaching career at a bilingual kindergarten for one year. Then she joined YCIS Chongqing as an ECE Co-Teacher from January 2016. She believes children learn through play and from environment around them, and the teacher’s main role is inspiring them to think and create. Children have the ability to learn themselves and teacher needs to help children to trust themselves and become lifelong learners. In her spare time, Ms Xiang loves making handicrafts, reading and history; the museum and library are her favourite places.
Mr Sam Nutt
K3 Higher Level Teacher Assistant
Mr Sam Nutt graduated with an honours degree from the University of Plymouth in 2011. In late 2012 Mr Nutt moved to China to begin a career in teaching, working as an ESL teacher, teaching students of all ages. After a couple of years in this role, he moved into ECE which he has been teaching for the past six years.
Mr Nutt joined the ECE Department of YCIS Chongqing this year. He has an enthusiastic and child focused approach to ECE and aims to make his classes enjoyable and active for young learners.
Mr Nutt enjoys playing football and other sports to keep fit during his free time and also helps to run an international football club for the local expat community.
Ms Rebecca Marie Roden
ECE K4 Co-Teacher
Mrs Rebecca Roden graduated with a first-class honours degree in Primary Education from Edge Hill University. She is an enthusiastic and highly effective teacher, with four years of experience spanning Early Years and Key Stage 2. She also served as a Science Co-Ordinator which involved ensuring that the teaching of Science across the whole school was outstanding. Mrs Roden then progressed to teach internationally at YCIS Chongqing as a ECE teacher.
Mrs Roden’s teaching approach is one that is creative and promotes independence, curiosity and self-discipline. She is also a firm believer in child-led learning where they develop important life skills such as critical thinking, problem solving and creativity.
Mrs Roden’s hobbies include painting, sculpting and jewellery making. She also enjoys keeping fit by going to the gym and taking her dog on long walks.
Ms Celly Xiao
ECE K4 Co-Teacher
Mrs Celly Xiao graduated with an honours degree from Chongqing Normal University in 2015. After graduating, she joined YCIS Chongqing and has spent five and a half years as a Chinese co-teacher in ECE.
Mrs Xiao has a very good understanding of the ECE curriculum, teaching K4 for two years and K3 for three years. She is always keen to provide children with a solid beginning in all areas of development. Mrs Xiao is also committed to aligning the curriculum with children’s interests and the requirement of the EYFS. The value and concerns of all the adults and the representational standards involved help the classroom culture evolve. She believes this idea inspires a lifelong passion for learning.
Ms Molly Wang
K4 Higher Level Teacher Assistant
Ms Molly Wang graduated with a bachelor's degree from University of Chongqing Nanfang Translator College of SISU in 2018. She began her teaching experience as a teaching assistant while at college, spending over two years working with young children.
Ms Wang moved into ECE this year after spending the past two years expanding her knowledge of the school and students as a member of the student support team. Her teaching approach puts the students at the centre of the learning experience, motivating and encouraging them to enjoy learning through play. She believes all students are unique, talented and deserved to be nurtured with patience.
Ms Wang 's hobbies include keeping fit through mountain climbing and spending time with her friends to bake, cook or explore different places.
