A Show of Virtual Sporting Excellence
On Thursday 19th March from 1:00pm – 3:30pm, YCIS Chongqing held the first Virtual Sports Day over the ‘cloud’. This Sports Day took place for students in all of our Houses, in locations across the globe, to celebrate our community and raise awareness for our health and well-being. It also served as a healthy ‘battle’ between our Houses (Earth, Wind, Fire, Water).
Extreme Reading Challenge on ‘Cloud’
Book Week is one of the most popular and fun events at YCIS Chongqing. To complement the excellent reading programme at each year level, each year the school takes the opportunity to promote a ‘love of reading’ and, ‘How to make a habit of reading’, around campus and in the wider community.

Art Makes Beautiful World
Every artist will agree that the less you have available to you, the more creative you have to be and THINK. This has certainly been true for our YCIS Chongqing students from Year 1-6 in Art e-learning this Semester. With a few simple things at hand such as paper, pencils, markers and recycled materials there have been endless possibilities! Everyday objects that are close at hand such as chopsticks, tin foil and take away boxes can be turned into masterpieces.
E-Learning - Art Therapy
Over the past two weeks our Student Support Department has introduced a new approach to support your mental health and wellbeing during this difficult time with Art Therapy activities. Art therapy involves the use of creative techniques such as drawing, painting, collage, coloring, or sculpting to help people express themselves artistically and examine the psychological and emotional undertones in their art. These creative activities often lead to a better understanding of your feelings and behavior. Art therapy helps children, adolescents, and adults explore their emotions, improve self-esteem, manage addictions, relieve stress, improve symptoms of anxiety and depression, and cope with a physical illness or disabilities. This Art Therapy unit has been titled Creative Healing and includes four weeks of activities with topics including Emotions, Happiness, Relaxation and Gratitude. Students have done an excellent job with their submissions and we look forward to continuing to receive more submissions in the coming weeks. The Many ‘MEs’ That Make Us Great
In 2002, YCIS Chongqing began its journey with five students with the aim to build a school that offers a high quality international education to the expat community, in this mountain city of southwest China. Over the past nineteen years, the school has relied on the skills and support of many wonderful colleagues, in operational and academic roles, who have together built a great learning community. From small beginnings, the school can now boast a full Kindergarten to Year 13 learning programme that prepares students for the world renowned IB Diploma, as a precursor to some of the best universities around the world.

Whether you believe it or not, spring is coming! Gentle grass is popping its head out, flowers are blooming in different colors, trees are surrounded by fresh green leaves. The 17th consecutive days with ‘ZERO’ new coronavirus cases in Chongqing has certainly been extremely positive news as we await the announcement of the reopening date for schools.
Celebrating Pink Shirt Day
Pink Shirt Day is often celebrated in schools during the last week in February each year. This day is used to help raise awareness for anti-bullying as well as try to find approaches to reduce bullying in our school.
