Double Ninth Festival Celebrations
The Double Ninth Festival is on the 9th day of September according to the Chinese lunar calendar. "Nine" is set as a positive number, and on the 9th of September we celebrate Double Ninth, also known as Chongjiu (double nine). On this day, Chinese people enjoy the beauty of chrysanthemums, drink chrysanthemum wine and eat Chongyang cakes.
90 seconds walk through – to honour a nearly 90 years old Yew Chung ECE
Founder’s Day, which is on October 9 this year, is a day we commemorate Madam Tsang Chor-hang, the founder of Yew Chung and Yew Wah schools. In 1932, with the mission of “honouring China”, Madam Tsang established a kindergarten in Hong Kong. Egyptian Mummies in Magic
Our Year 7 Humanities students have been studying ‘Ancient Egypt’, looking specifically at how their lives are similar and different to our lives today. Students have also been fascinated to learn about the mummification process and the trials Egyptian people went through in order to make it to the afterlife.
YCYW Celebrate Founder’s Day and 88th Anniversary
On October 9, 2020, Yew Chung International Schools and Yew Wah International Education Schools celebrated Founder’s Day. Students, staff members and parents across the YCYW network in Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, Qingdao, Guangzhou, Tongxiang, Yantai, Rizhao, Shenzhen and Silicon Valley in the US, participated through a live steam to celebrate the 88th anniversary of YCYW.

YCIS Chongqing welcomed students and parents to our ‘settling in’ interviews on Monday 21st September. This was an opportunity for parents to meet new teachers, gain some insights into how their child(ren) is progressing and understand the expectations for them, as parents.

The Mid-Autumn Festival is a very popular event in our school calendar and is something that our students look forward to. At YCIS Chongqing, we celebrate this wonderful festival each year, embracing its tradition and for many, developing cultural awareness.
New Student Morning Tea
YCIS Chongqing aims to support the transition process for our new students by providing opportunities for them to meet new friends and teachers who can offer help and advice. On Wednesday 16th September, our new students and their invited ‘buddy’ gathered together for a special ‘morning tea’ to celebrate and welcome them to their new school.
Creative Minds are on Display
Recently, Year 6 Learning Community kicked off the start of their academic year with a Talent Show. Creativity was on display as 28 students exhibited their own unique gifts. Violinists played their favorite songs, pianist showed their magic fingers, models demonstrated the art of modeling, and mathematicians exhibited excellence. Amazing pieces of art, paintings, clay models, photography, and handmade items were showcased. Sports enthusiasts would have enjoyed the demonstrations of swimming, basketball, jump rope, golf (hole in one), fencing, roller blading, and the limbo!
